SOLDIERS IN WORLD WAR 2 ON THE BATTLEFIELD AND SHELTER
"After travelling all night we hide out in a wood till about 3 o'clock when we commence digging in on a new position. None of us leave much time to ourselves these days. Sleep the night in a farmhouse, commence digging again at daylight."
Excerpt from Sgt. Powell's diary. Wednesday, May 22, 1940. He is writing about life in the war and living conditions.
"....but only one man was killed...we saw lots of combat and made a good name for itself."
Sherman Baxter on "Operation Husky."
Soldiers' experiences in the war were very scarring and brutal. They had to adapt to new lifestyles and living conditions right away. They were very brave men.
